Acceptable Use Policy
The rules everyone agrees to follow when using labrats.uk.
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules for using labrats.uk ("the Site"), operated by The Metavision Multimedia Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, trading as Labrats. It supplements our Terms & Conditions and applies to everyone who visits, uses or contributes content to the Site.
1. Prohibited uses
You must not use the Site:
- in any way that breaks any applicable law or regulation in your jurisdiction or ours;
- in any way that is fraudulent or has any fraudulent purpose or effect;
- to send, knowingly receive, upload, download, use or re-use material that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, defamatory, obscene, infringing of intellectual property, harassing, or designed to promote violence, hatred or discrimination;
- to transmit unsolicited advertising or promotional material (spam);
- to knowingly transmit data, send or upload material that contains viruses, trojans, worms, time-bombs, keystroke loggers, spyware, adware or other harmful code;
- to attempt unauthorised access to the Site, the server on which it is stored or any connected server, computer or database;
- to attack the Site via a denial-of-service attack or distributed denial-of-service attack;
- to use any robot, spider, scraper, crawler, AI training pipeline or other automated means to access the Site for any purpose without our prior written consent, except for well-behaved indexing by major public search engines.
Breach of this section may be a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990, the Online Safety Act 2023 and similar legislation. We will report any such breach to the relevant law-enforcement authorities and will co-operate with them by disclosing your identity.
2. Content standards
If the Site allows you to post comments, reviews, images or other content, that content must:
- be accurate (where it states facts) and genuinely held (where it states opinions);
- comply with applicable law in the United Kingdom and in any country from which it is posted;
- not be defamatory, obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory;
- not promote sexually explicit material, violence, or discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or age;
- not infringe any copyright, trade mark, database right or other intellectual property right of any other person;
- not be likely to deceive any person, breach any legal duty owed to a third party, promote any illegal activity, or be threatening, abusive or invasive of another's privacy;
- not be used to impersonate any person, or to misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person;
- not give the impression that they emanate from us if this is not the case.
3. Suspension and termination
We will determine, at our discretion, whether there has been a breach of this AUP. When a breach has occurred we may take whatever action we consider appropriate, including:
- immediate, temporary or permanent withdrawal of your right to use the Site;
- immediate, temporary or permanent removal of any contribution uploaded by you;
- issuing a warning;
- legal proceedings against you for reimbursement of all costs (including reasonable administrative and legal costs);
- further legal action against you;
- disclosure of information to law-enforcement authorities as we reasonably feel is necessary or as required by law.
We exclude liability for actions taken in response to breaches of this AUP. The actions described above are not limited and we may take any other action we reasonably deem appropriate.
4. Reporting
If you become aware of any content on the Site that you believe breaches this AUP, please email contact@themetavision.co.uk with the URL and a brief description.
5. Changes
We may revise this AUP at any time by amending this page. You are expected to check this page regularly to take notice of any changes, as they are legally binding on you.
