Cookie Policy
What cookies and similar technologies we use on labrats.uk.
This Cookie Policy explains how The Metavision Multimedia Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (trading as Labrats) uses cookies and similar technologies on labrats.uk. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They let the site remember information about your visit — your shopping cart, your preferences, whether you are logged in — and help us understand how the site is used. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage and tracking pixels; references to "cookies" in this policy cover all of them.
2. The categories we use
Strictly necessary
These cookies are essential for the site to work and cannot be turned off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions you take, such as logging in, adding items to your basket or proceeding to checkout. The site will not function correctly without them.
Examples: session identifiers, cart contents, CSRF tokens, Stripe checkout state.
Functional
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalisation, such as remembering your region or display preferences. If you disable them, some features may be unavailable.
Examples: language preference, accepted-cookies flag, recently viewed products.
Analytics
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. They collect information in an aggregated form — for example, which pages are most popular and how visitors move around the site. We only set analytics cookies after you have given consent.
Examples: anonymised page-view counters, scroll depth.
Marketing
These cookies may be set by us or by third-party providers to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant content on this site or others. We only set marketing cookies after you have given consent. We currently do not run paid advertising trackers; if that changes we will update this list and re-prompt for consent.
3. Third-party services that may set cookies
- Stripe — fraud prevention and secure payment processing during checkout.
- YouTube / Vimeo — only loaded if a page contains an embedded video; may set cookies once the embed plays.
- Google Workspace / Google reCAPTCHA — if used to protect a form from spam.
These third parties are independent controllers for the data they collect via their own cookies. Their cookie practices are governed by their own policies.
4. How long cookies stay on your device
- Session cookies are deleted automatically when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies stay on your device until they expire or you delete them. Most cookies on this site expire within 12 months.
5. Managing your preferences
When you first visit the site, a cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clearing the site's cookies in your browser and refreshing the page, which will re-display the banner.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. The "Help" menu in your browser explains how — for example:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break parts of the site, including the basket and checkout.
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no agreed standard for how websites should respond to this signal, so we do not currently react to it. You can still control non-essential cookies using the banner and the methods above.
7. Changes to this policy
If we add new tools that set cookies, or change how we use existing ones, we will update this page and, where required, re-prompt you for consent.
